My name is Carolyn Pilbeam and I have lived in Surbiton since 1986.  Apart from teaching yoga, until recently, I ran and worked in my own Holistic Health clinic, which I had run for 30 years.

I started my teaching career in 1990 with the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the London Borough of Merton, where I provided courses in nutrition, aromatherapy, reflexology, kinesiology and stress management using natural therapies and methods.

I am a professional member of the British Wheel of Yoga and attend regular Continuing Professional Development courses related to yoga, mindfulness and related subjects..

I took my first yoga class when I was 19, in 1969.  My teacher was a lady of about 60. She looked fit, healthy, and vibrant and was very flexible. She had come to yoga later in life with arthritis; she attributed her regeneration, fitness and flexibility to yoga.  She was my inspiration to continue practising yoga.

I have a passion to share the wide-ranging health benefits and enjoyment I have had since I started practicing yoga. I always feel energized and positive after a yoga class, whether I am student or teacher, and know that I am contributing to my short and long-term health.
